I find the space elevator idea damn elegant. The ballast for Robinson's Martian elevator gets christened 'Clarke'. A nod to the original architect of the idea, Arthur C. Clarke.

Pictured is the Clarke end of the elevator. At the base of the cable you can see Sheffield, the city where the elevator is anchored. Phobos is also visible whipping past the cable partway down.

More rover stuff. This is not an idea of Robinson's, I just think it it would make an expensive, shiny toy useful tool in the not-too-distant future.
